I had the chance to attend the Into the Light workshop hosted by Damien Lovegrove and Martin Hill at Kingscote House in Gloucestershire England. I had not attended a Lovegrove Consulting course previously however, as a follower of his blog for the past two years, I had an idea of what to expect. Damien and Martin have very different styles that compliment each other for this workshop. Some of the workshops I have attended in the past have been very fast paced. I really liked how Damien and Martin slowed things down. They took time to explain where the lights were placed and why. This left me with a feeling that I could replicate this style of lighting when I got home. Damien has a unique shooting style and I love the gobs of shadowy detail he consistently gets; he knows how to make light look intimate. This was one of my biggest reasons for wanting to attend this workshop and he was more than happy to explain his process to get it just right. Martin’s style is just as unique, he has a way of making light punch in a big way. I was excited to use the Broncolor pack outdoors and we got excellent results. I feel that I took a lot away from this workshop and I will be able to use these techniques on future shoots. If you have been considering attending a workshop from Lovegrove Consulting, I would highly recommend it. Damien and Martin are each very inspirational men and you will not be disappointed.
Below are some my favorite images from the day.

Wow! Thanks for the write up and your kind words. Your pictures are beautiful and different to mine. That’s a great thing because we see the world with creative eyes.
I’m coming to Chicago to give some workshops later this year and I’d love to meet up somehow.
We wil meet again, I’m sure.
Kind regards, Damien.
Very, very nice work, Kyle.
